3 Popular Food Recommendations In Jonker Street Melaka Like The Daily Fix! | Bonus Tip on Jonker 88!

Today we'd be sharing 3 popular food recommendations in Jonker Street Melaka

1) The Daily Fix

Ask any Singaporean who’s been to Melaka and they will talk abt this hipster cafe in the middle of jonker. Good coffee, amazing pandan waffles with gula Melaka sauce and definitely insta-worthy ambience. Unfortunately we went on a weekend and the queue was an hour long.

But we could leave your name on the waiting list and continue your shopping along jonker.
This place is crowded. You've to take a queue number and go walk around first.

This Daily Fix cafe is very chill and understandable why so many youngsters love to take pictures here. Older folks may not appreciate it so much though.

Look at the delicious Local Pandan Pancake which is their specialty!

Stuffed with gula Melaka!

Would recommend to share it though, very sweet!

I've also taken a quick snapshot of the pancake menu here for you.

They do serve some main courses too by the way and prices are actually quite ok!

2) Low Yong Moh Restaurant (Dim Sum) 榮茂茶室 ! - Why we love breakfast there!

We finally had a chance to eat this famous breakfast place!
Having tried it, I must say it’s definitely worth the hunt.
Prices are cheap and food is tasty! They had some really unique Dim Sum which we don’t see back home anymore.
JH gorged on the baos and the simple yet so delicious porridge.
The older folks will love their traditional dim sum service where the waiter will bring food for you to pick.
The Hubby loved their Kopi which had a burnt taste and very aromatic. The tea is strangely Lipton tea but it had the perfect amount of fragrant evaporated milk just to my liking.
After breakfast, you can take a stroll around the surrounding shops and temples.
Low yong moh restaurant is located near Heeren Street and Harmony Street and this area is known to locals as Melaka’s Chinatown.
Indeed you can find many shops selling prayer lanterns and incense paper, which is an educational experience for the little one as well.

3) Chung Wah Chicken Rice | Best tasting Chicken rice in Melaka?

Chung Wah is one of the iconic stalls in Melaka.
It is also our favourite of the 3 chicken rice stalls in Jonker Street!

Be prepared to queue

If you are eating between 12-2pm (which is of course lunch hour), queues can be 45min or so and its under the hot sun.
That’s why we like to come early. Do note that they are sold out by 2pm

Chung Wah Legendary chicken rice balls that you cannot miss!
They give all rice balls unlike Hokee chicken rice who will serve a mixture. You may check the link below.
One thing to note, the  chicken meat may be tougher as it is kampung chicken style. All are white chicken!
Reasonable price at around RM34 for 3pax

We do slightly prefer Hoe Kee looking just for saving on queue time thoughPo. Check out this post here : https://holidaytriptoday.blogspot.com/2019/11/hoe-kee-vs-chung-wah-chicken-rice-who.html

Bonus TIP: Jonker 88 | Crowded and overpriced

If you are looking for Chendol there are many options in Melaka.
Today’s review is on Jonker 88 and they serve Chendol in normal, durian, durian with mochi…. Lots more other slight variations.
Durian Chendol photo below.

Main thing was prices was expensive!!
The top premium one with Mochi was like RM15 and I just thought of settling for the less than RM10 durian version will do.

Space is very limited

Over the years, we’ve actually been there more than once for some reason. Seats were also hard to find and it usually is a 10-15min wait for space.
Jonker 88 also has Assam laksa stall. That stall also has some yong tao fu stuff.
But without proper seating, its hard to enjoy. The place was warm also.
With a kid, maybe this place can be a miss.
